BACKGROUND

Africa Bioethics Network is committed to cultivating a culture and tradition of excellence in both fundamental areas in the society. The network promotes human rights and human dignity in all aspects of life with general benefits of the African society, as well as for specific intellectual purposes.

Vision

Our vision is to bringing together multidisciplinary group so as to create a continental collaborative network to educate, share lessons and begin to create a common approach to ethics issues in our continent.

Mission

Africa Bioethics Network (ABN) is dedicated to increasing the understanding of bioethical issues. ABN provides access to resources, offers educational programs, and provides networking opportunities with the goal of improving the health and quality of life for individuals and across communities.

Aim

We aim at increasing collaboration and the exchange of resources, information and ideas amongst us, which will ultimately address many of the ethical dilemmas faced in Africa in health; the environment and climate change; sustainability, justice, and responsibility; natural sciences; policy and governance; social sciences and humanities.

Means making sure we have strong relationships with groups such as: National regional bodies, institutions, and regional research agencies; Civil society and non-government organizations that work with communities; Private sector enterprises of all sizes, from entrepreneurs and local businesses to international corporations; Academic and technical institutions in Africa.

Building capacity

Promote the development of skills and knowledge needed to: take part effectively in global research programs; build and support international research networks; and develop effective partnerships with civil society organizations and private sector entities.
