The ORCID Bioethics Community of Practice in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), led by the Africa Bioethics Network, is transforming how bioethics research is documented and shared across the region. This pioneering initiative, supported by the ORCID Global Participation Fund, has successfully established a vibrant community of practice connecting bioethics researchers across SSA. The project has already achieved significant milestones. Following our comprehensive landscape analysis, which can be found here, we have conducted expert-led seminars and virtual forums to enhance ORCID adoption in the bioethics community. The project addresses the unique challenges in African bioethics research, from cultural nuances to resource constraints, by leveraging ORCID's capabilities to create a more interconnected scholarly ecosystem. With a direct reach to over 1,000 bioethics stakeholders, this initiative is improving research visibility, streamlining collaboration, and ensuring African bioethics research claims its rightful place on the global stage.
